To enable you a better overview and understanding of your audience, you can find three new reporting breakdowns in the Outbrain DSP dashboard, including:
By Interest
By Age
By Gender
Data in these segments relies on Outbrain's proprietary Interest and Demographic segments. This gives you a clearer insight into user behavior and preferences, allowing you to create improved personalized and targeted solutions to reach relevant users, even in light of changing privacy and cookie regulations. Read more about Outbrain’s Interest and Demographic segments here.
Where To Find "By Audience" Breakdown
The new breakdowns are available alongside other reporting dimensions in the reporting grid. You can find them available on all levels, including Agency, Account, Campaign, and Ad group, for any level of reporting granularity.
How It Works
The new breakdowns are based on Outbrain’s proprietary Interest and Predictive Demographics data, which combines users’ reading habits with contextual signals.
Please note: Because of the nature of the data, a user or a page can be categorized into multiple segments - for example, a user can be interested in Politics and Fashion simultaneously. You will see some impressions counted in multiple categories to ensure accurate data representation. That is why the totals column will have a different value than in other breakdowns and should not be used as a reference for final cost calculations.
The new breakdowns should mainly be used to better understand the audience and inform your future targeting strategies.
Who Can See the New Dimensions
New reporting dimensions are available to all users and are automatically enabled for all your Accounts.
Keep in mind that the By Age and By Gender are only supported for English and Japanese-targeted campaigns. Campaigns targeting languages other than English or Japanese will not have the new data breakdowns populated, or the data will not be significant. We are working on supporting additional languages in the upcoming year.
Available Data in the By Audience Breakdowns
All data, besides Google Analytics or Adobe Analytics audience metrics, is available.
FAQ:
I’m targeting the News interest, but I see News alongside other interest categories in my report. Why?
This is due to the nature of the data and multiple signals in a single impression. A page or a user can be categorized into multiple interests or demographic segments at the same time, and each impression will be reported multiple times to ensure an accurate representation of segments.
Can I use Automation Rules or Bid Modifiers in the By Audience breakdowns?
Setting automation rules or bid modifiers is not currently supported. However, you can include/exclude specific segments in ad group targeting based on performance.
