This section outlines the steps you need to follow to start tracking events and behavior of users on your calculators and quizzes using Google Analytics.

How to connect my Google Analytics account to see events on my calculator and quiz

First thing you need to do is to find your Google Analytics Tracking Code. If you already have a Google Analytics account then you can get started right away.

To find the tracking code, tracking ID, or property number in your Analytics account:

Sign in to your Analytics account.
Select the Admin tab.
Select an account from the dropdown in the ACCOUNT column.
Select a property from the dropdown in the PROPERTY column.
Under PROPERTY, click Tracking Info > Tracking Code.

A couple of options appear on clicking Tracking info. Choose the tracking code option from the options. After selecting Tracking code from the options following screen will open up.

Copy the tracking id highlighted in illustration above and head over to the Configure section of the calculator or quiz whose events you want to track in Google Analytics. Add the tracking id you copied to Google Analytics Tracking id field in General & SEO settings section.

Once the tracking id is added to the calculator or quiz following events will start getting tracked

  • A user views your calculator/quiz ,

  • A user clicks CTA on Landing page or submits the lead form on your Landing page

  • A user submits the Lead Form at the end of the questionnaire

  • A user clicks CTA on Result/Outcome page or submits the lead form on Result page

Now whenever one of these events take place on your calculator or quiz you will notice it in Google Analytics Events.

To view the reports for the events on Google analytics, search for Top events report in Google analytics. Use the calculator/quiz name for event category, calculator or quiz url will be the event label you need to look for in the report. If you are searching for actions look for Submitted, Clicked and Calculator Visited actions in the report.
