Trial and Evaluation Process

Written by David McCandless

Overe uses a two-tier trial model. Every new MSP gets a 14-day Product Evaluation window for the platform, and every M365 tenant they connect gets its own 14-day Tenant Integration Trial. The rules governing how these interact — and what happens when they expire — are explained below.

The Two Trial Tiers

Product Evaluation

Tenant Integration Trial

What it covers

The MSP's access to the Overe platform

A single M365 tenant connection

Duration

14 days from organisation creation

14 days from tenant activation

Limit

One per Organisation

Once per unique Microsoft tenant (cannot be re-trialled)

Conversion

Enter payment details or submit a PO

Convert to a billed integration at any time

Rule 1 — During the Product Evaluation (First 14 Days)

While an MSP is in their Product Evaluation period, the following apply:

  • Unlimited sites can be created.

  • A Tenant Integration Trial can be activated for any or all of those sites.

  • Co-terminus expiration: ALL tenant trials started during the Product Evaluation expire at the same time — when the Product Evaluation ends on Day 14.

Example: Tenant A is added on Day 1. Tenant B is added on Day 5. Both expire on Day 14 — not on Day 15 and Day 19 respectively.

Rule 2 — After Conversion to Paid

An MSP exits the Product Evaluation by entering payment details or submitting a valid Purchase Order (PO). Once active, new tenants can be added in one of two ways:

  • Opt-in to a standalone 14-day Tenant Integration Trial (if that tenant has never been trialled before).

  • Activate immediately as a Billed Integration from Day 1.

Tenants already in progress at the point of conversion follow these rules:

Tenant state at conversion

What happens

Trial ongoing

Keeps its original 14-day countdown. Automatically becomes billed when it expires (unless manually converted sooner).

Trial expired

Remains Disabled but can be converted to a billed integration at any time.

Rule 3 — Expiration & Extensions

Product Evaluation expires (no payment)

  • The MSP cannot create new sites or onboard new tenants.

  • All ongoing tenant trials immediately expire and their integrations are disabled.

  • Historical data is retained in the admin backoffice for reporting and upsell.

Product Evaluation extension granted

  • All ongoing AND previously expired tenant trials are automatically extended to match the new evaluation end date.

Extending an individual tenant trial (active customers only)

  • Can only be done while the tenant trial is still active.

  • Once a trial has expired it cannot be extended — it will already have hit the monthly billing cycle for that customer.

  • Extensions are handled by contacting the Overe team directly.

Lifecycle Scenarios

Scenario A — Product Evaluation expires without payment

Trigger

14-day window lapses with no billing info or PO submitted.

What happens

Product Evaluation status → Expired.

All active tenant trials immediately disabled.

No new sites or tenants can be created.

Historical data remains accessible in the admin backoffice.

Scenario B — MSP converts to paid (enters payment or PO)

Trigger

MSP enters payment details or submits a valid Purchase Order.

What happens

Organisation is activated.

Ongoing tenant trials: keep their original 14-day countdown.

Expired tenant trials: remain Disabled but become eligible for billed conversion.

New tenants added post-conversion can start as trial or billed.

What Happens When a Trial Expires

When a Tenant Integration Trial expires, the integration is disabled. The following distinction applies:

Stops

Remains available

Automatic syncing with the M365 tenant

All historical data in the admin backoffice

Active security protection features

Reporting and analysis on past data

Ability to convert to a billed integration

Quick Reference

Can the same M365 tenant be trialled twice? No. Each unique Microsoft tenant can only be trialled once.

Can I add unlimited tenants during the Product Evaluation? Yes, but all will expire co-terminously on Day 14.

Can I extend a tenant trial once it has expired? No. Extensions are only available on active trials. Contact the Overe team before expiry.

What if my Product Evaluation is extended? All tenant trials (active and expired) are automatically extended to the new evaluation end date.
