Building your Farm Dataset

OY is designed to simplify farm planning. To this end, we’ve created 3 data types that can be imported, transferred, duplicated, and edited.

There are three data types in Overyield: Global Data, Team Data, and Farm Data.

These data types interact in multiple ways that can help you streamline crop template creation, customization, and economic modeling.

Global Data

Global Data refers to public data that is built into Overyield.

This data is transferred to users via 20+ Public Crop Templates created by Propagate agronomists and validated through R&D, third-party verification, and fieldwork.

When you assign a Public Crop Template to a Section during the design process, you automatically import Global Data to your Farm Dataset, including all the associated crop, materials, and capex data contained within a given template.

You can also duplicate a Public Template as a Team Template, which you can then customize to meet your team’s needs and use in your other Team Projects.

Farm Data

Farm Data refers to project-specific data, which is fully customizable within an individual design.

This means you can edit your Farm Data, without changing the original Public Template or Team Template datasets from which your Farm Data was sourced.

Your Farm Dataset is located within each project under EconomicsFarm Data.

Farm Data includes Crop Templates, Materials & Fuel, and Equipment & Infrastructure, customized to fit a specific farm’s context.

Team Data

Team Data is shared across your entire team, meaning it is accessible to every team member and within every Team Project.

Team Data allows easy sharing of best practices across an organization. For example:

  • If your team often recommends a particular fertilizer, you can add that to your Materials & Fuel dataset. That fertilizer will then be selectable across all Team Projects, within the Operations tab of any crop template.

  • Similarly, if your team recommends different operations than those listed in a public crop template, you can duplicate the public template as a team template, then edit the Operations section of the template to reflect your recommendations.

Team Data can be accessed and edited via the Home page under the Teams menu.

Editing/Duplicating Templates

Overyield users can customize public/team-provided datasets within individual farms:

  1. First assign a public template to a Section or Row on your Design Page.

  2. Next, navigate to EconomicsFarm DataCrop Templates.

  3. Select the crop whose data you would like to edit from the list of crops.

  4. Edit your Crop Settings, Operations, Revenue, Loss Events, and/or Carbon data.

  5. Click Save.

Users can also duplicate public templates and convert them into team templates:

  1. First assign a public template to a Section or Row on your Design Page.

  2. Navigate to EconomicsFarm DataCrop Templates.

  3. Click the [Template Name] whose data you would like to copy.

  4. In the righthand corner, select Template Actions, then click Create Team Template in the dropdown.

  5. You will automatically be directed to your new team template, titled “Template Name” and located on the Homepage, within your Teams Dataset.

  6. Edit this new template to your team’s specifications and use in any team project.
