How do harvests within my timber yield model affect tree count?

Written by Support

Within Overyield crop templates, certain assumptions are built into modeling timber harvests and yields:

  • First, a harvest event (e.g. 20% trees harvested in year 16, 40% in year 17, 50% in year 29, etc.) does not remove trees from your farm. Overyield assumes these trees automatically regrow - it is up to you, while building out your yield model and harvest operations, to account for regrowth/losses. You can do this by:

    1. Scheduling harvest events according to the reality of tree regrowth (e.g. in the below example, the second major harvest occurs 11 years after the first).

    2. Creating a loss event, then allocating harvest operations to said loss event.
