Copy Farm errors

Occasionally, data issues within a farm prevent users from copying said farm. These issues most commonly occur in older farms, in which crop templates contain "legacy" objects - i.e. capexes, inputs, operations, and other types of farm data that no longer exist in our database.

Other times, copy errors are caused by a bug.

Error Example

Typically, you can identify the underlying issue through the error message, which will spell out the cause. For example, in the below error, underlying data issues are preventing copying. In this case, certain objects attached to your crop templates are considered "invalid" due to blank data within the object. Filling in this data will resolve the issue.

Once you know the general source of the data errors (in the case, capexes), you can navigate to your capex dataset. Objects with data errors will be highlighted via a red exclamation point (see below).

To fix the error:

There are two options to fix data errors related to invalid object.

  • The easiest solution is to simply delete the object. The caveat here is that you will delete the cost and usage data associated with this object, which might impact your economic model.

  • The second option is to fill in the missing data within the invalid object, rendering it valid. To do this:

    1. Navigate into the object.

    2. Identify the missing data. You can do this by attempting to save the object. The fields identified as "Required" are blank and should be filled in.

    3. Fill in the blanks and save the object.

    4. Continue to resolve the data issues identified in the error message.

    5. Once all invalid objects are valid, re-attempt to copy the farm.

Below is a running list of legacy objects with known data issues, as well as corresponding metadata that can be used to correct the error.

Known invalid objects:

  • Chainsaw

    • Fuel / Hour: .3488 gal

    • Fuel type: Gasoline

  • 1-bottom-plow

    • Does not use fuel

    • Weight class: Heavy

  • "Tiller" - depending on the use cases, you might want to add data for the tractor itself as well as the attachments.

    • BCS

      • Fuel / Hour: 1.5 gallons

      • Fuel type: Gasoline (premium)

    • BCS Tiller

      • Does not use fuel

      • Weight class: Medium

      • Cost: $1000
