When an app fails to end an EV charging session, the cause is usually a temporarily frozen process, poor mobile network connectivity, or a lost signal between the app server and the charging unit.
Work through these steps to stop a session when an app fails, starting from quick software fixes to hardware workarounds:
Force-Quit and Reopen the App
Close the app completely from your phone's recent apps switcher. Reopen the app to force a fresh connection with the server.
2. Stop the Session via the EV's Dashboard or Key Fob
Most electric vehicles allow you to terminate charging directly from inside the car:
Key Fob: Press the unlock button on your key fob multiple times to unlock the charge port latch and interrupt power delivery.
Infotainment Screen: Open your vehicle's charging menu and select "Stop Charging" or "Unlock Charging Cable".
3. If you’re unable to detach the cable (it’s stuck at the charger/car):
Reconnect your car to the charger and try the above steps.
4. When all the troubleshooting suggestions fail, it’s best to call the charger’s support team, using the phone number shown at the unit. While connected to the team, please ask for the session's termination or a charging lead disconnection - whichever describes the issue you are trying to get help with.
