How to update the Oculus drivers on your computer (Rift & Rift S Headsets)

Manually update your Oculus drivers when you have audio or visual issues in your Oculus headset

If you are having issues hearing audio, or are getting a black screen instead of your VR content when using an Oculus Rift or Rift S headset you will need to manually update your Oculus drivers.

Follow this guidance to manually update your Oculus drivers.

Start by fully disconnecting the headset from your computer and close the Oculus app.

  1. Open This PC from the Start bar

  2. Open the OS (C:) Drive

  3. Click on Program Files

  4. Click on Oculus

  5. Click on Support

  6. Click on oculus-drivers

  7. Click on oculus-driver

  8. If prompted, allow Oculus to make changes to your computer

  9. This will open and run the Oculus driver and update the software automatically for you.

  10. A progress wheel will appear for a short time. Once this has disappeared, the update is complete

  11. Reconnect your headset and launch the VR content to check the audio or visual issue has been rectified
