Follow these steps to ensure your microphone inputs are set up correctly in order to use OMS Communications (voice control) scenarios.
Check your input settings
Open System Settings (in Applications, from Dock or Apple menu, via Siri, or using Spotlight Search).
Click on Sound.
Select Input > Built-in.
Here, make sure the Input volume is at maximum.
Now, if you speak near your Mac, the Input level bars should fill up
Check your input settings for the OMS app
Go to the Apple menu (top left corner of your screen)
Select System Settings
click Privacy & Security in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
Click Microphone on the right.
Turn access to the microphone on or off for the OMS app
Troubleshooting Tip:
Try an external microphone. Generally people have more success with Communications scenarios (especially in crowded places) with an external microphone (for example on a set of headphones).
Note: if you are using an external headset / microphone, ensure that is selected as your input device on your Mac.
Open System Settings (in Applications, from Dock or Apple menu, via Siri, or using Spotlight Search).
Click on Sound.
Select Input > choose the device you want to use
Here, make sure the Input volume is at maximum.
Now, if you speak near your Mac, the Input level bars should fill up
