Basic Format
In Padel Americano, you play as an individual in rotating pairs. Each player competes individually while forming temporary teams throughout the tournament. The competition concludes after everyone has had the opportunity to play with everyone else.
Scoring System
Matches are typically played to a predetermined point total (commonly 16, 24, or 32 points)
Each successful rally earns one point for the winning team
Teams serve 2-4 times before the serve passes to opponents
Points earned in each match are recorded individually for each player
Match Conclusion
When a match finishes, points are distributed to individual players based on the final score. For example, in a match ending 10-14 (out of 24 points), players on the first team receive 10 points each while players on the second team receive 14 points each.
Tournament Organization
Minimum requirements: 4 participants
Ideal court-to-player ratio: 1 court per 4 players
Suitable for mixed skill levels, though extreme differences may require separate groups
Alternative: Consider Mexicano format if skill differences are substantial
Average duration: About 2 hours for a complete tournament
Individual matches: Approximately 10 minutes for a 24-point match
Matches can alternatively be timed (10-20 minutes) rather than using a point cap.
