It's important to know the difference between an editable design and the layout library before you begin creating your design.
How do I add pages to my design?
Editable Designs
Pages can be added to your design by navigating to the Pages palette and selecting Add New Page. If you’re working with a template, you can select layouts available from the original template. You can also duplicate existing pages from the current design or add a blank page to start from a blank canvas.
Layout Library
Pages can be added to your design by navigating to the Pages palette tab and selecting Add New Page. The easy to use Document Builder will open and you can add pre-designed page layouts from the layout library. If you’re working with a template, you can select layouts available from the original template. You can also duplicate existing pages from the current design. You cannot add blank pages.
How do I change the number of panels on the page?
Editable Designs
You can freely add panels by selecting one of the tools in the floating tools palette and dragging a new panel in to cover an area on the page. You can remove panels by right-clicking on a panel with your cursor and selecting Delete. This permanently removes the panel and cannot be undone.
Layout Library
You cannot add any more panels to a layout than those already there. Unwanted panels can be hidden by right-clicking on them with your cursor and selecting Hide. Hidden panels can be re-enabled by going to the layers palette, locating the panel and clicking the eye icon.
How do I control the fonts and colours in my design?
Editable Designs
All fonts and colours are set on a panel-by-panel basis and are set manually by you using the Settings Palette.
Layout Library
Fonts and colours are controlled by a 'theme'; a pre-configured palette of colours and fonts that help keep your design consistent and ensure best practice for web viewing. Choose your custom theme to apply your branding colour, fonts and logos.
How do I move a panel?
Editable Designs
Select a panel and drag it around the page using your cursor. You can also use your arrow keys to nudge a panel around the page.
Layout Library
Only certain panels can move and the moves available are only those specified by the layout library. Most panels cannot move.
How do I change the appearance of the panels in my design?
Editable Designs
Clicking a panel on the page will load its settings in the Settings tab on the right of the screen. From here, you can update the settings for the individual panel. Any changes are automatically saved and cannot be undone.
Layout Library
Clicking on a panel will load any optional styling for the panel. The options available will depend on the panel itself — this may include colours, positioning, sizes etc. If you select an option and then change your mind, you can deselect the option you have specified. The panel will return to its default appearance.
Can I quickly update the appearance of the entire document?
Editable Designs
As designs don’t use a theme to control their appearance, this is less straightforward. You will have to update all your panel settings manually to change their appearance. You can, however, right-click on a panel and select Copy panel settings. You can then paste these settings to another panel of the same type by right-clicking and selecting Paste panel settings.
Layout Library
The appearance of all the panels is managed by a theme. Changing the theme used will automatically update the appearance of all the panels in the design, so you can update the appearance of the entire design in a couple of clicks.
