The Charges Page is probably the page you will spend the majority of your time on within a Project, so let's breakdown the different Functions and Tools so that you can get to creating accurate and clear quotes for your Clients!
Let's take a look at the Toolbar and what each button does.
1 – Create New Charge – This button is how you will create new Charges within a Project.
2 – Expand All/Collapse All Toggle – This will Expand/Collapse all Sub-Location 1 headers.
3 – Toggle Subgroups – This will Remove/Display Sub-Location 1 headers.
4 – Clone – If you have a single or multiple BOQ's selected you can Clone them by selecting the Clone button. When Cloning you can also make adjustments to the new BOQ's (any changes will apply to ALL Cloned BOQ's).
5 – Bulk Edit – When you select multiple BOQ's you can select the Bulk Edit button to edit multiple BOQ's all at once.
6 – Activate – If you have selected any Deactivated BOQ's you can select to Activate button to Reactivate them into your Project.
7 – Deactivate – If you have any BOQ's you wish to remove, you can select them and click the Deactivate button to remove them.
8 – Show Filters – This will display a range of filters that you can select to narrow down your BOQ's.
Pro Tip
To show Inactive BOQ's you will need to Show Filters and change the View from Hide Inactive to Show All and select the Filter button. All Deactivated BOQ's will appear in Red (see below image for an example).
Now let's take a quick look at what the Charges Table looks like when we have some BOQ data and what portions you can interact with.
The Tick Boxes along the left hand side of the Charges/Headers are the Select Boxes, this allows you to;
Select All (very top left) – This will select all BOQ's within the Project.
Select Sub-Location (next to Sub-Location 1 header) – This will select all BOQ's under that Sub-Location 1 header.
Select BOQ (next to the individual BOQ) – This will only select that individual BOQ.
The 2 arrows next to the Location header is used to reorder your BOQ's.
Once you have selected the 2 arrows you will have a hand appear as your cursor, simply click and drag on either the Sub-Location 1 header or the individual BOQ's to move them around. Once you've rearranged your Sub-Locations or BOQ's either hit the SAVE ORDER or CANCEL ORDER button at the end of the header to save or revert your changes.
Next to each Sub-Location 1 is a black arrow, you can use this to expand or collapse specific Sub-Locations to either show or hide entire groups of BOQ's.
The next interactable icon is the Edit BOQ button (Pen Icon), we won't got into to much detail in this guide about editing a BOQ but this is where you will be able to see and edit every detail relating to a specific BOQ.
Next is the Comment button (Speech Bubble), this will allow you to write either an External or Internal Comment. An External Comment will appear on most documents that are generated from the system, where as an Internal Comment will only appear on select documents. You can also add Comments in the Edit BOQ screen.
And then there is the Measure Tool Shortcut (Ruler). If this BOQ is linked to the Measure Tool you can use this shortcut to quickly jump to this specific BOQ in the Measure Tool.
You can also change a BOQ's Location/Sub-Locations, Substrate, Coating System or Colour on the fly. Click on that particular detail of a BOQ and a pop-up window will appear where you can change/edit the BOQ's details without having to click on the Edit BOQ button. This works well if you only want to change minor details of a BOQ without having to open an entirely new page.
The next lot of editable fields from the Charges Table are Difficulty (%), Labour Hours, Units, Rate/Unit, Charge, Profit, GP(%) and Discount. Something to be aware of though is editing particular fields will auto-adjust other fields as they are closely linked with one another in terms of how they are calculated. When you adjust the following fields they will also affect;
Difficulty – Labour Hours, Cost/Unit, Cost, Charge, Profit, GP(%).
Labour Hours – Cost/Unit, Cost, Charge, Profit, GP(%).
Units – Labour Hours, Cost/Unit, Cost, Charge, Profit, GP(%).
Rate/Unit – Charge, Profit, GP(%).
Charge – Rate/Unit, Profit, GP(%).
Profit – Rate/Unit, Charge, GP(%).
GP(%) – Rate/Unit, Charge, Profit.
The final group of information are the Totals. At the bottom of each Sub-Location there will be a collective Total for all the BOQ's within that particular Sub-Location and will display the information for Labour Hours (Total), Units (Total), Cost/Unit (Avg), Cost (Total), Rate/Unit (Avg), Charge (Total), Profit (Total), GP(%) (Avg) and Discount (Total).
At the bottom of the Charges Table there will be the Grand Totals which will gather the above mentioned data but for all the BOQ's within your Project. You will also see to the left of your Grand Totals the Charges Count, this displays the total number of BOQ's within your Project.
And there you have it, that is a brief overview of the Charges Table. There is a lot to it but if you give yourself time to understand how each component works it can be incredibly powerful too for how you approach and quote your Projects.
