So you're stymied behind a tree or looking at a fried egg. These are examples of 'Recovery' shots. A recovery shot can be defined as any shot where due to interference or an awful lie, you do not have a reasonable chance to hit the green. This includes hitting into the trees where you cannot fully advance the ball.

Marking these shots as 'Recovery' instead of 'Rough' or 'Sand' is critical as it degrades the previous shot from a strokes gained perspective for putting you into a bad situation.

Marking the lie as recovery is as simple as tapping the shot. Selecting 'Recovery' for Lie and clicking save. You can also assign 'Punch' as the club, however modifying the Lie is the recommended way.
