Create Sections in BOMs

Learn how to create sections in your Bill of Materials to break out your products

Step 1. Starting Your BOM

You can begin your BOM in two ways:

  • Manual Entry: Enter products line by line directly into the BOM.

  • Import Products: Upload an existing BOM file (e.g., schedule or quote).


Step 2. Creating Sections

  1. When you first upload or enter products, they will automatically appear in the original New Section.

  2. To rename this Section:

    1. Double-click on New Section and enter the desired name

  3. To create a new section click on the Create Section() icon

  4. A new Section labeled New Section will nest right beneath the first one

    1. Double-click on New Section and enter the desired name


Moving Products Between Sections

You have two ways to rearrange products:

  • Using Checkboxes:

    1. Select the checkbox(es) next to the product(s) you want to move.

    2. Click the Change Section () icon

    3. Select the Section where you want to move the products and click Move

  • Drag and Drop:

    • Hover over the drag handle next to the line item.

    • Drag the product into the desired Section.

💡 Tip: Use checkboxes when moving multiple items at once


Reordering Sections

  1. Hover over the drag handle next to a Section name.

  2. Drag and drop to reorder the Sections within your BOM.
