The Documents tab is where you find, attach, and organize datasheets for each product in your BOM — building the foundation for your Submittal and O&M packages.

  1. Organize Your Sections

  1. In your BOM, rename the Default section for clarity by double-clicking its name.

  2. Click Create SectionProduct Section and enter a new section name.

  3. Select the relevant line items, click Change Section, choose the target section, and click Move.

Tip: Use meaningful section titles like "Fixtures" or "Control Systems" to keep your product list organized and easy to navigate.

2.Add Datasheets

  1. Click the Documents tab inside your BOM.

  2. Click Add Datasheet for a line item — Parspec searches across 1,600+ manufacturers by model number.

  3. Click Select under the correct datasheet.

  4. Click Save & Annotate to attach it and open the annotation view.

Tip: Hover over any datasheet thumbnail for a zoomed preview, or click Preview to view the full datasheet before selecting it. Datasheets marked with a tag indicator are the most up-to-date sheet available on the manufacturer's website.

3. Add Datasheet Manually (if not found)

If the datasheet doesn't appear in search results, click + Add Datasheet and choose one of the following:

  • Add a link to a file — paste the URL of the datasheet you found on the web.

  • Upload a file — browse and upload a datasheet saved on your desktop.

  • Add a blank page — insert a placeholder page.

  • Reuse from another product in this BOM — pull in a datasheet already attached to another line item.

4. Improve Datasheet Search Results

If search results aren't matching, the model number field may contain extra text that is interfering with the search.

  1. Put the model number at the beginning of the Model Number field.

  2. Move any descriptive text to the Notes column instead.

Note: For example, instead of entering GLASS UP DOWN WALL SCONCE - ICW1009392 in the model number field, enter ICW1009392 in Model Number and move GLASS UP DOWN WALL SCONCE to the Notes column. This ensures Parspec searches on the correct identifier.
