When you create a collection, you will be prompted to select the collection's visibility. The visibility controls who will have access to your collection. This setting may be changed at any time only on collections you have created. To change settings on collections owned by other members, you will need to contact them directly about editing the settings.
*We recommend creating a collection from your home profile to achieve limited visibility options. Here is more information about creating a personal collection.
Edit Privacy settings on a collection:
Click the Collections tab on your Home Feed.
Choose the collection you would like to edit.
Click [Edit], under the Privacy label on the right-hand menu
Select the desired privacy setting, PRIVATE, HIDDEN OR PUBLIC.
Click [Save] to save your changes.
Privacy Setting Types
If you're working on a collection that only you and your colleagues will view or edit, then we recommend using the PRIVATE setting. Click the Collaborators tab in your collection and click [Manage Collaborators] to invite colleagues to view or add to your collection.
If your collection is set to HIDDEN, it will not be searchable on participate.com, but anyone who has the link to the collection will be able to view it (only collaborators will be able to edit it). *If you're a Course Designer, we recommend using this setting if you're embedding a collection inside of a course.
A hidden collection created from your home profile (as opposed to inside the community itself) :
*Can be added to a community or a page or course within a community.
*Can be shared with a select group of collaborators or anyone via the link.
* Will not appear in the Community Resource Tab (unless added)
PUBLIC collections are shareable, searchable and easy to embed into courses and pages. Only collaborators will be able to add or manage resources in your collection; however, anyone can discover and view your resources.
