If you are a Designer for your community, then you have the ability to create digital credentials and connect them courses hosted in your community. Digital credentials are a powerful way to guide your learners to demonstrate their mastery of skills and competencies.

To get started, click on your profile avatar in the top-right corner and choose the Credentials option (you must be a Designer in your community first). You will see all of the digital credentials available in your community. If you are ready to create a new credential, simply click on the [New Credential] button at the top of the screen.

Digital Credential Requirements

To create a digital credential, you will need to decide on the following information:

  • Name of the credential
  • Description of the learning experience
  • Criteria Description (e.g., learning objectives that learners will demonstrate)
  • Learning Hours (i.e., the equivalent number of professional development hours)
  • Credential Image (must be in .PNG or .SVC format)

Once you have created a digital credential, you can return to your community Courses tab and locate the course you would like to associate with this credential. To edit the course, click on the 'Actions' menu in the top-right corner of the course, and select [Edit Content]. When you are in edit-mode, locate the Credential block on the right-hand side and click [Edit]. In this window, you will see options to select the credential you want to associate with this course, as well as options for the Review Type for the course. As a Course Designer, you also have the ability to test your course. Save any changes you have made to the credential for this course and then click the [Test Course] button in the list on the top-right of the course (in edit-mode only). You can now run through the course just as a learner would view it. Complete all interactions in the course to see your new digital credential awarded!
