Blueprints are the core of Partytrick — think of them as your event’s ready-to-go game plan, or a paint-by-numbers for streamlined event execution. Each blueprint is a pre-built event template filled with curated content: visual inspo, setup tips, product recommendations, packing check-lists, vendor notes, and a timeline that covers everything from pre-planning to follow-up.

In the Blueprints tab, you can browse options, preview details, and choose a blueprint that fits your occasion. Once selected, it becomes your customizable command center for the event.

This guide walks you through how to explore, select, and set up a blueprint for your event. To see a video walkthrough, click below.

Setting Up an Event

You can set up a new event from multiple screens in the platform. On the Events tab, click Create Event.

Clicking Create Event launches the Event Setup form, where you’ll enter some initial details about your event, including:

  • Event name and description

  • Estimated guest count

  • Date, time, and location

  • Collaborators or co-hosts

  • A thumbnail image for visual reference on your Dashboard

Don't worry if you don't know all the details right away. You can always edit these details later, or skip them altogether. The only detail required to get started is the Event Name; the rest can be added at a later time.

Heads Up: if you do not select a start and end time for your event, a blueprint's pre-loaded tasks will all be added to a Backlog on the Timeline tab, since their due date is relative to the event start time. As soon as you add a start time, they'll automatically shift to the correct date.

Once you've filled in your key details, click Next Step: Select Blueprint. This will take you to the Blueprints page, where you can browse, preview, and choose a blueprint that fits your event.

If you prefer to continue without a blueprint, just scroll to the bottom and click Continue Without Blueprint. You can always build your event from scratch, no blueprint required.

Browsing & Selecting a Blueprint

A Blueprint is like a paint-by-numbers for your event. Each one is a content-rich template packed with everything you need to bring your event to life: visual inspo, setup tips, product recommendations, vendor notes, and a timeline from pre-planning through follow-up.

Using a blueprint saves you time and energy by giving you a solid starting point and allowing you to set up an event in minutes, but every blueprint is completely customizable, so you can tweak the template to fit your event vision.

To explore your options, head to the Blueprints tab in the left-hand menu.

You’ll land in the Blueprint catalog, where you can scroll through our growing collection of templates. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, reach out via the in-app chat or send us an email at hello@partytrick.com. Let us know what kind of event you’re planning, and we’ll help you find the best match or let you know if that theme is in the works.

Click on any blueprint thumbnail to open a preview.

This preview shows you the theme, purpose, sample imagery, and a few notes about what the blueprint includes so you can make sure it fits your vision before selecting.

When you're ready, click Use This Blueprint to launch the Event Setup form. Once you've filled out the details, click Save Event.

Now that your event is set up, you can dive into the details, from Design and Elements to Budgeting and Timeline. Explore our other guides to learn how to customize your blueprint, manage your event budget, track needed items, and collaborate with your team on tasks from start to finish.

With your event set up and your blueprint selected, you’re ready to bring your vision to life. Whether you’re hosting something big or keeping it casual, your Partytrick tools are here to help you stay organized, inspired, and stress-free.
