We help cut down on your busy-work by sending your members automated email messages and notifications when certain actions occur. We also have templates for invitations that you send with a custom message. We've provided a nearly exhaustive list of full-text sample emails below for your reference. 

Unless a different footer is noted, each email includes a footer with the following links:

You can update your contact email address by opening "Settings" from the main menu and then going to "Add account information."


Pathwright school created

Sends to school admin after creating a new school.

Subject: Welcome aboard - your Pathwright account is ready

Body: Hi [user_name],

Here's how to access your new Pathwright account, [account_name]

Pathwright school activated

Sends to school admin after activating a school.

Pathwright school invoice payment failure

Sends to school admin when an invoice payment fails.

Subject: Billing failure (action required)

Body: Hi [user_firstname],

Our recent attempt to bill the card on file (ending in 1234) for [account_name] was declined. Please take a moment to verify that the card we have on file for you is correct.

We will re-try this charge [attempts_remaining] more times after which your account will automatically be closed.

Upcoming bill increase notification

Sends to school owner and billing contact when billing increases due to high volume usage

Subject: Preview your upcoming bill

Body: Hello,

Your plan for [school_name] includes up to 1,000 learners and you recently grew to [number_of_active_members]. Your upcoming bill automatically adjusts to the best price for extra learners and may change between now and [due_date].

Invitation to a course

Sends to user when user is added to or invited to join a specific course.

Subject: [sender_name] added you to [course_name]

Enrollment confirmation

Sends to user when user enrolls in a course.

Subject: Start [resource_name] from [account_name]

Enrollment confirmation with future start date

Sends to a user when user enrolls in a course with a future start date.

Invitation to join account

Sends to user when user is invited to become member in the account without enrolling in a specific course.

Invitation to join Mentor Group

Sends to user when user is invited to become member in a Mentor Group.

Subject: [sender_name] invited you to join [group_name]

Resource added to Path

Sends to members when a staff member uses "Add to Path" to assign them a course.

Admin notification for new registration

Sends to admins when someone registers in a course and admin notifications are enabled.

Feedback discussion notification

Sends to a learner when a staff member posts feedback on their work to the private discussion in the Inbox.

Sends to a learner when a staff member leaves feedback on their work as a review in the Inbox.

Discussion posted notification

Sends to a teacher or moderator when a discussion question is posted a cohort they are teaching.

Sends when a reply is posted to a discussion thread to which the user is subscribed.

Default message when a scheduled lesson or step has a due date set with a reminder.

Overdue notification

Default message when a scheduled lesson or step with a due date set is overdue.

Message to the class

Sends to all staff and users enrolled in a cohort when a staff member sends a message via the Message tool

Password reset

Sent to user who requested password reset or to whom staff sent a reset. 

Subject: Password reset for your [account_name] login

Body: Hi [firstname], to reset your password, click this link: [unique link to reset screen]

This reset password link will expire in 3 hours. If you didn't request to reset your password you may safely ignore this message. 


Member-created cohort creation confirmation

Sends when a user creates a new private cohort.

Subject: [Course Name] from [school] is ready to teach

Body: Hi [firstname],

[Course Name] from [school] is ready to teach.

Here's a confirmation for your records:

Course: [course_name]
Group: [group_name}
Fee: Free with your subscription / $00.00 USD

Notifications digest

Sends on a recurring basis to users based on their notification settings.

Subscription notifications

The following are notifications that are only sent if your school offers a monthly or annual subscription plan


Subscriber subscription confirmation

Sends when a user has successfully subscribed to a plan. 

Subject: You're now subscribed to [account_name].

Body: Congratulations, you're subscribed to [account_name]!

Your email address to sign in is: [user_email_address]

Your credit card on file (ending in 1234) will be billed $00.00 USD on the [date] of each month, starting today.

Want to modify your subscription? Visit Your Account > Billing to make changes anytime. 


Subscriber subscription confirmation with free access (via trial, discount code)

Sends when a user has successfully subscribed to a plan for free (via trial, discount code). 

Subject: You're now subscribed to [account_name].

Body: Congratulations, you've started your free trial to [account_name]!

Your email address to sign in is: [user_email_address]

Start learning → [links to school library]

Your access period will end on [date] at [time]. We'll send an email reminder before then.

If you'd like to pay for continued access in advance of your access period end date, you may do so anytime at this link: [links to subscription flow]. 


Subscriber subscription confirmation with free access card information required (via trial, discount code)

Sends when a user has successfully subscribed to a plan that requires card info for free (via trial, discount code).

Subject: You're now subscribed to [account_name].

Body: Congratulations, you've started your free trial to [account_name]! 

Your email address to sign in is: [user_email_address]

Your credit card on file (ending in 1234) will be automatically billed $00.00 USD on the [interval] starting at the end of your trial period on [billing_start_date].


Subscriber subscription confirmation with free access (via gift)

Sends when a user has successfully subscribed to a plan for free (via gift).

Subject: You're now subscribed to [account_name].

Body: Congratulations, your subscription to [account_name] is now active! 

Your email address to sign in is: [user_email_address]

Card issuer requires confirmation of payment

Sends to subscriber if their card issuer requires payment confirmation (for SCA compliance).

Subject: ⚠︎ Confirm your payment information to keep your subscription active

Body: Hi [firstname],

Your card issuer requested that you confirm your subscription payment information. To keep your subscription to [account_name] active, please take a moment to confirmation your payment information as soon as possible.

Subscriber's free period will expire

Sends to subscriber when a trial subscription ends. 

Subject: Your free access to [account_name] is ending soon

Body: Hi [firstname],

We hope you've enjoyed your free access to [account_name]. This is a courtesy reminder that your free access will end in just [days_left] days, on [free_trial_end_date].

Subscriber's free period will expire and card information was required

Sends to subscriber when a trial subscription (with card information required) ends. 

Subject: Your free access to [account_name] is ending soon

Body: Hi [firstname],

We hope you've enjoyed your free access to [account_name]. This is a courtesy reminder that your free access will convert to a paid plan in 3 days, on [month_day].

Your credit card on file (ending in 1234) will be automatically billed $00.00 USD on the [date] of each month.

Subscriber trial expired

Sends when a period of free access (via trial, free discount code or gift code) ends. 

Subject: Your free access to [account_name] has ended

Body: Hi [firstname], we hope you've enjoyed your free access to [account_name].

Now that your free access period has ended, we wanted to let you know that you can subscribe to continue taking courses from [account_name] anytime simply by activating your subscription [links to subscription flow]. Your progress on any courses you've already started will be stored and you'll be able to start right back where you finished once your subscription is active. 


Subscriber delinquent initial notices

Sends to a subscribing user when a payment fails to process on first three attempts.

Subject: [account_name]: Subscription payment failed

Body: Hello [firstname], [account_name] recently tried to bill your card ending in 1234 for $00.00 USD, but our transaction failed due to a decline error. Please take a moment to verify that the card we have on file for you is correct and in good standing. We will re-try this charge X more times before canceling your subscription.

Use your username to sign in: [user_email_address]

Verify your payment details: Your [account_name] billing 


Subscriber delinquent final notice

Sends to a subscribing user when a payment fails to process four times. 

Subject: Your credit card was declined

Body: Thank you for subscribing to [account_name]. Unfortunately, we could not charge your credit card for your monthly subscription when we attempted to charge $00.00 USD to your card ending in 1234 on 00/00/0000. To re-activate your subscription, please visit the Subscribe page and enter your payment details.

Thank you for your business and we appreciate your attention concerning this matter.


Subscriber subscription cancelled

Sends when a subscriber's paid subscription has been cancelled. 

Subject: Subscription cancelled

Body: Hi [firstname],
Your subscription to [account_name] has been cancelled and your credit card on file will no longer be charged. You will have access to [account_name] until [month_day]. 


Gift subscription receipt

Sends to purchaser when a user purchases a gift subscription.

Subject: Your purchase from [account_name]

Body: Hi [firstname], your gift subscription purchase is complete! Here's a description of your order:

Purchase: X months Gift Subscription to [account_name]
Total: $00.00 USD
Date purchased: [date_time]
Code: XXXXXX

Email or print the gift certificate you purchased here [links to certificate print out]. (You can sign-in with the username [user_email_address], which you purchased the gift subscription with.) 


Gift subscription certificate

Sends to recipient when a user purchases a gift subscription. 

Subject: You have received a gift subscription to [account_name]!

Body: [optional personal message]

[firstname], this certificate gives you free access to [account_name] for X months. You can start your [account_name] subscription anytime by following these steps:

  1. Visit [link to redemption flow]

  2. Create an account with [account_name] or sign in if you have an existing account.

Curriculum store notifications

The following notifications are only used for accounts that are connected to a curriculum store (in beta with publishers like Ligonier Connect, ChurchNext, Belltower). 


New group licensing confirmation

Sends to admin who has licensed a course from a curriculum store

Subject: [Course Name] from [publisher_account_name] is ready to teach

Body: Hi [firstname],

[Cohort_name] is ready to teach.

Here's a confirmation for your records:

Cohort: [cohort_name]

Fee: Free with your subscription [or] 10 members at $5/member.

Curriculum subscriber invoice confirmation 

Sends monthly to the admin of an account subscribed to a curriculum store

Subject: Billing invoice from [publisher_account_name]

Your monthly subscription to [publisher_account_name] content for [subscriber_account_name] was successfully processed. Your card on file was charged the following amount:

Total: $00.00 USD for your current billing cycle.

To view your billing history or modify your billing information visit your school billing management.


Curriculum subscriber billing failure

Sends to the admin of an account subscribed to a curriculum store if a payment fails to process

Subject: Billing failure (action required)

Our recent attempt to bill the card on file (ending in 1234) for [school_name] was declined. Please take a moment to verify that the card we have on file for you is correct.

We will re-try this charge again on [date]. Please update your card information, or your account will automatically be closed.

Curriculum subscriber billing failure (final)

Sends to the admin of an account subscribed to a curriculum store when the account is automatically closed due to non-payment

Subject: Account suspended due to delinquency

Unfortunately our attempts to bill your card (ending in 1234) for [school_name] have been declined and your account has been closed. We've saved all of your data, but your account is no longer available to your staff or members.

We're happy to help re-activate your school. Please contact us at [support_email_of_curriculum_store] right away to settle your account.
