Which type of charger are you using?
There are many types of charge points within a charge point network, and they are made by several manufacturers. These chargers have slight variations that can lead to common issues.
The two broadest classifications of chargers are AC and DC chargepoints. These connector types are as follows
DC
CCS
CHAdeMO
AC
Type 2
Other
These can be found and filtered in the app in accordance with your vehicles preferred connector type
Often the charge points themselves are physically different.
AC chargepoints usually have only a socket, although some are "tethered" with their own cable. Therefore, you need to bring your own charging cable. The most common socket type is Type 2, which is the same as your home charger. However, other sockets are available. AC chargepoints are either slow or fast chargers. Car manufacturers recommend plugging your cable into the charging socket before plugging it into your car. But on some units, you may need to start the charge from the app before plugging in.
DC chargepoints are also known as rapid chargers, ultra-fast chargers, and Super Chargers in the Tesla world. These units usually have a cable attached, and they are tethered. To start the charge, follow the instructions on the machine. Often, the charge must be started via the app or card before plugging in. These units tend to be physically larger as standalone boxes in car parks.
