Budget + Targeting Optimization for the Ad Network

Get tips for optimizing your Ad Network campaign's audience targeting and daily budget.

Updated over 2 years ago

The number of people your ad reaches depends on three factors: audience targeting settings, daily budget, and the bid amount.

  • Audience targeting
If you’re setting your audience too narrow, you’ll automatically limit your potential reach. As a rule of thumb, we advise setting an audience of 50,000 as a healthy minimum.

Additionally, when targeting narrower demographics, try to increase the length of your campaign accordingly. Otherwise, you might miss out on top newsletters that go out monthly or quarterly.

If you'd like to test multiple audiences, create 2-3 campaigns on your Ad Network dashboard. Then, select different audiences for each campaign, (for example: audience 1 from the US, audience 2 from the UK). Be sure to maintain the same other budget/creative variables on both campaigns.

  • Bid amount
When too many advertisers are targeting the same audience, you’ll often lose to those with a higher CPC bid. To give you a better idea of what to aim for, we show the forecasted results with recommended CPC bid for your targeting settings in your dashboard.

  • Daily budget
Your daily budget determines your maximum spend for each day. The higher you set it, the more people you can reach in a given day. Don’t worry– we’ll never charge you more than your daily limit or chosen bid amount.
