Bots make up over 40% of traffic on the web, which makes it harder for marketers and advertisers to get accurate open and click data. Email bots can make it difficult to gauge the performance of email marketing and newsletter campaigns.
That’s why Paved automatically filters out click bots in your sponsorship reports.

Understanding Click Bots
What's a click bot?
A click bot is an automated program that mimics human behavior by clicking hyperlinks on the web and in emails.
Not all bots are bad—most bot clicks come from authentic security products which are used to prevent spam and fraud. However, others can be more malicious.
Bot Type | Description | Filtered by Paved? |
Security click bots | Acting like a spam filter, this bot type prevents malicious emails from entering mail servers by automatically clicking links in emails. As a result, you might see a click on an email that wasn’t actually opened by a human. | ✅ |
Fraudulent click bots | This type of bot is programmed to carry out click fraud by artificially inflating the number of clicks on a link or ad. Typically, this is done with malicious intent for fraudulent purposes. | ✅ |
Why does Paved filter out bot clicks?
Bot filtering keeps our platform fair for both advertisers and publishers by providing the most accurate campaign results.
Why do my ESP and Paved reports show different click rates (CTRs)?
Due to the differences in ESP and Paved tracking, it’s normal for click rates to vary. For example, popular email service providers like Mailchimp do not filter out bot clicks—which can inflate your click rates in campaign reports.
In contrast, Paved has a process in place that removes clicks coming from bots—showing only real human clicks in your report.
