We recommend you place the Ad Network ad unit in one of three places in your newsletter. Either at the top above the fold, in the middle between content sections, or at the footer, before any sign-off or signature. Each place has its pros and cons and can produce different results, so you should see what works best in your newsletter:
Above Fold
Putting an ad at the beginning of your newsletter will increase the clicks and the total revenue opportunity. This place is normally where you would put an ad if someone bought a top or header ad from you in a traditional sponsorship. In the case of the Paved Ad Network, you do not have to sell the ad spot every single time you send a newsletter. Having the Ad Network take the top spot when you don't have another sponsor allows you to focus on writing and engaging with your subscribers.
Mid Email
The next spot we recommend is between content sections. Perhaps between two sections that you would normally have a dividing line or a change in style. With ads placed in this spot, you will see lower clicks than with the top placement but might be a better experience for your audience. Another option is to always run an Ad Network unit in this spot, and reserve the top spot for traditional sponsorships.
Footer
Another option is to put the Ad Network spot in the footer of the email. By far, this spot produces the least amount of clicks and therefore typically less revenue. That said, if you normally have a classifieds or shout-out section in your footer, the Ad Network can be a great add-on to this area as your audience will be accustomed to content here and may still be willing to click.
Also, if you’d like to continue using the Ad Network all the time without having to move it around, the footer is a good place to 'set it and forget it'.
