Key Terms for Categories

Label | User-facing category name. |
Name | Unique category identifier, used for integration perspective. |
Description | Category description. |
Number | Unique category number, used as a prefix for Inventory SKUs. |
Tag Template | Allows overriding a tag template for the Category. |
Has Certificate | Adds a Diamond / Gemstone Certificate picker on the Inventory page for this Category. |
Has Bullion Certificate | Adds Bullion Certificate picker on the Inventory page for this Category. |
Allow Grouping | Allows adding Inventory from this Category to Product Groups. See Product Groups |
Pricing Model | Defines how the product's price is calculated, see Pricing Models |
Creating a New Category
ā ļøItās recommended to clone and adjust an existing category instead, see How to Clone a Category
Proceed to the Categories tab.
Click +Add New button.
Fill in the required fields. Optionally, you can add extra data as needed.
Once all required fields are filled and the checkboxes are enabled, click Save to save the record.
How to Clone a Category
If you want to create a category with the same attributes and pricing tiers as an existing one, you can clone the existing category.
To do this:
Click on the button group next to the desired category.
Select the Clone option.
Fill in the required fields and click Save to apply the changes.
Editing Existing Categories
Click on the button group next to the preferred category.
Click the Edit button.
Update the preferred fields.
Save changes.
Deleting Categories
In the Categories section, locate the category you want to remove.
Click the dropdown icon next to it.
Select the Delete option.
Confirm the deletion when prompted.
āDeleting a category may affect products associated with it. Ensure that the category you intend to delete does not have any related inventory items.
This action is irreversible.
Adding Attributes to a Category
Click App Launcher in the navigation tab bar.
Type Pavilion Settings in the search.
Proceed to the Categories tab.
Select the preferred category.
Click on the +Link Attribute button.
Fill in the required fields.
Optionally: Add additional information.
Click the Save button.
