Searching for Payment Plans by Plan Name

Written by Alyssa Elso
Updated this week

Finding the right payment plan shouldn’t slow your team down. With the Search Plan field on the Payment Plans page, you can quickly locate specific plans by name—without scrolling through long lists. This works alongside the existing Search Patient field, allowing you to further narrow results when needed.

Why This Matters

As your practice grows, so does the number of payment plans you manage. Searching by plan name helps your team:

  • Save time by instantly locating specific plans

  • Reduce errors when reviewing or updating plans

  • Quickly assist patients with questions about their plans

  • Stay organized when managing multiple plans with similar structures

Whether you’re looking for a membership plan, a specific treatment plan, or a plan tied to a timeframe (like “2026”), this feature helps you find it faster.

Where to Find It

The Search Plan field is located at the top of the Payment Plans page, next to the Search Patient field.

How to Search by Plan Name

  1. Go to Payments in the left-hand navigation

  2. Select Payment Plans

  3. Choose the appropriate status tab:

    • Active

    • Accepted

    • Delinquent

    • Retrying

    • Proposed

    • Archived

  4. Enter a plan name (or part of it) in the Search Plan field

Results will update instantly as you type.

How Search Works

The Search Plan feature is designed to be flexible and easy to use:

  • Searches within the selected tab only: Results are limited to the status tab you’re currently viewing

  • Partial matches supported: You don’t need the full name—typing “2026” will return plans like “2026 Membership.”

  • Case-insensitive: “membership”, “Membership”, and “MEMBERSHIP” all return the same results

  • Real-time results: No need to refresh—results update automatically as you type

  • Independent of patient search: You can use it on its own or combine it with patient search

Combining Plan Name and Patient Search

For even more precise results, you can use both search fields together.

When both fields are filled:

  • Results are filtered by both plan name AND patient name

Example:

Searching for:

  • Patient: Sarah

  • Plan name: 2026

➡️ Only plans that match both criteria will appear

Supported Tabs

You can search by plan name across all payment plan statuses:

  • Active

  • Accepted

  • Delinquent

  • Retrying

  • Proposed

  • Archived

Important Notes

  • The Search Plan field filters by plan name only
(It does not search by amount, date, or other details)

  • If no results appear:

    • Confirm you’re in the correct status tab

    • The plan may exist under a different status

  • Switching tabs will:

    • Keep your search term

    • Apply it to the newly selected tab
