Accessing and Using Draw Boundary

The Draw Boundary tool allows you to manually outline areas on the map to include or exclude specific locations from your search results. You can access the tool two different ways:

Option A (Filters Menu):

  1. Navigate to the Search page

  2. Open Filters

  3. In the Location section at the top, click Draw

Option B (Location Column):

  1. On the Search results page, locate the Location column

  2. Click into the column

  3. Select Draw

Once the tool is open, the workflow is the same:

  1. Position the map by entering an address or dragging the map to your desired area

  2. Select a boundary type (Polygon or Circle)

  3. Choose Inclusion or Exclusion to determine whether listings inside the shape should appear or be removed

  4. Draw your boundary:

    1. Polygon: Click on the map to place points and define the shape.

    2. Circle (Option 1): Click once to set the center point, then move your mouse to expand or contract the radius and click again to set the size.

    3. Circle (Option 2): Enter a radius, then click on the map to set the center point (circle is created at that radius).

  5. Click Save Custom Boundary to apply the boundary and update your results

πŸ’‘ Entering an address first can help center the map before drawing.

Boundary Types

Perchwell supports both inclusion and exclusion shapes to refine your search area:

  • Inclusion Polygon β€” draw a custom shape; listings inside are included

  • Inclusion Circle β€” click to set a center point and drag to adjust the radius, or enter a radius value; listings inside are included

  • Exclusion Polygon β€” draw a shape; listings inside are removed

  • Exclusion Circle β€” click to set a center point and drag to adjust the radius, or enter a radius value; listings inside are removed

πŸ’‘ Use an Inclusion shape to target a neighborhood and Exclusion shapes to remove nearby areas that do not fit your client’s criteria.

Things to Know:

  • Boundary shapes work with all other search filters (price, beds, baths, etc.)

  • Inclusion shapes show listings inside the boundary based on your applied filters

  • Exclusion shapes remove listings from inside the boundary

  • You can draw multiple boundaries within the same search, with no limit to how many shapes you create

  • Boundaries can be cleared and redrawn at any time
