Setting up a review cycle in Performance Leader is straightforward and gives you complete control over your performance management process. This guide will walk you through each step of creating a new review cycle, from accessing the reviews dashboard to configuring your review settings. By the end, you'll have a draft review cycle ready to customise and launch.
Accessing the reviews dashboard
First, navigate to your Reviews Dashboard.
Go to the Manage App section from your main navigation.
Select Reviews to open the reviews dashboard.
You'll see any existing reviews displayed here, either as stand-alone items or organised into folders.
Important: Only super admins can create new review cycles. If you don't see the option to create a new review, check your permissions with your system administrator.
Starting a new review cycle
Once you're on the reviews dashboard, creating a new cycle is just a click away.
Click the Plus New Review Cycle button.
A dialogue box will appear asking for high-level details about your review.
Providing review title, description, period, steps and contributor feedback.
This is where you'll define the core information about your review cycle. These can be edited later as well.
Here's a quick reference table for each setting you'll configure:
Setting | What it does | How to use it |
Review Title | Names your review cycle | Enter a clear, descriptive title (e.g. 'Annual Review' or 'Q1 Performance Review') |
Description | Explains the review process to other admins | Briefly describe what happens at each step and include any important notes or 'gotchas'. A well-written description makes it easier for others to manage the review if you're not available |
Review Period | Defines the timeframe the review covers | Choose from available date ranges or select a custom date range. These dates help identify the review period for admin purposes and can be configured at the instance level |
Include Contributor Feedback | Determines whether other users can provide input | Select whether to include contributor feedback (such as from peers or direct reports). Choosing this creates a two-step review process where contributors can provide input |
Number of Steps | Sets how many stages your review process will have | Enter the number of steps for your review. For example, a two-step review might include self-assessment and manager review |
Creating and managing the review
Once you've configured all the settings, you're ready to create your review cycle.
Click Create New Review Cycle to finalise the creation.
Your new review will appear on the reviews dashboard automatically in a draft state.
Click Manage to open the review and begin configuring additional settings.
From here, you can customise your review cycle further, add participants, configure questions, and set up workflows. These advanced settings will be covered in other guides.
