Manage permissions (Super and Restricted admins)

Learn how to manage Super Admin and Restricted Admin permissions in Performance Leader. This guide walks you through adding, editing, and scoping user privileges by department, role, or location.

Managing permissions effectively ensures the right people have access to the right information in your system. This guide will show you how to assign Super Admin and Restricted Admin permissions, and how to scope access by department, role, or location.

Viewing user privileges

Before you can edit permissions, you'll need to see which users already have special privileges assigned to them.

  1. Navigate to Manage Users within the Admin section.

  2. You'll see a list of all users in your system.

  3. Toggle on the Privileges option to display which users have Super Admin or Restricted Admin permissions.

Editing user permissions

Once you've identified a user whose permissions you'd like to change, you can quickly update their account type.

  1. Click the pencil icon next to the user's name to open their profile.

  2. Scroll down to the Account Type section at the bottom of the profile.

  3. From here, you can remove special permissions by setting the user back to a Regular User, or assign Restricted Admin privileges.

Creating restricted admin permissions

Restricted Admin permissions allow you to scope a user's view to specific departments, roles, or locations. This is particularly useful for giving team leaders or HR managers access to only the areas they're responsible for.

  1. After selecting Restricted Admin in the Account Type section, additional settings will appear.

  2. Choose to scope the view by Department, Role, or Location.

  3. The system will display available options (e.g., all departments in your organisation).

  4. Toggle on as many options as required. For example, you might select Commercial, Corporate, and Disputes departments.

  5. You can layer filters to further refine the view. For instance, selecting specific departments and the Associate role means the user will only see Associates within those departments.

  6. Remember, these filters work as 'AND' filters—each one is applied on top of the others.

  7. When you're happy with your selections, click Save to apply the changes.

Tips for managing permissions

Keep these best practices in mind when setting up admin permissions:

  • Review regularly: Permissions should be reviewed periodically, especially when team members change roles or leave the organisation.

  • Start narrow: When in doubt, it's better to start with more restricted permissions and expand access as needed.

  • Use layered filters thoughtfully: Remember that each filter you add narrows the view further, so test the combination to ensure the user can see what they need.
