Objectives reporting and analytics

This guide covers objectives reporting and analytics, which includes engagement metrics, activity trends, quality analysis, and alignment reporting to help you monitor objective-setting across your firm.

The Objectives Engagement tab (the "Objective engagement summary" dashboard) is your central hub for monitoring how objectives are being used across your organisation.

  • From your admin menu, navigate to Manage Apps

  • Click into the Objectives module

  • You'll land on the Engagement tab, which displays the "Objective engagement summary" of engagement and activity data

Understanding the engagement overview

The first section of the Engagement tab provides a high-level snapshot of objective activity within your selected scope and date range.

  • Review key metrics including:

  • Number of objectives available and open

  • Users with active objectives

  • Activity around commenting and engagement

  • Use the date range selector at the top of the page to adjust the reporting period

  • The data will update automatically to reflect your chosen timeframe

Setting scope and filters

You can refine your reporting view to focus on specific segments of your organisation.

  • At the top of the page, use the scope filters to limit data by:

  • Department

  • Role

  • Location

  • Note that the scope you set applies to all reporting sections within this view

  • You can also choose different report types from the selector at the top

For example, if you want to see how Senior Associates are performing against their objectives, simply select that role from the scope filter.

Viewing status distribution

The status distribution chart helps you understand how objectives are progressing across your selected scope.

  • Scroll down to the status distribution section

  • Review the breakdown of objectives by status (e.g., on track, at risk, behind)

  • Use this data to identify where support or intervention may be needed

Exploring activity and engagement trends

The Activity and Engagement report provides comparative insights into how objective-setting is trending over time.

  • Toggle into the Activity and Engagement report view

  • Compare the number of new objectives in your current period against previous periods

  • Scroll down to see activity broken down by:

  • Department

  • Role

  • Location

  • Review the distribution of progress, completion trends, and aging analysis

This comparative view is particularly useful for understanding whether objective-setting is increasing or declining across different cohorts.

Quality analysis with AI

Objective quality and sentiment analysis now lives in Performance Intelligence rather than inside the Objectives module. If your firm has AI enabled, open Performance Intelligence to analyse the quality of objectives being set across your organisation.

Accessing quality analysis:

  • In Performance Intelligence, navigate to the quality and smart analysis section

  • Click the information icons to understand how each chart is calculated

  • Review how objectives align with frameworks such as SMART criteria

  • See how objectives relate to your firm's strategic context

Understanding quality distribution:

  • View how objective quality is distributed across departments and roles

  • Identify specific quality issues that may need addressing

  • Use these insights to provide targeted coaching and support

This analysis helps you ensure that objectives being set are meaningful, measurable, and aligned with your firm's strategic priorities.

Reviewing alignment analysis

The Alignment Analysis report maps how different roles and departments are aligning their objectives to strategic priorities.

  • Navigate to the Alignment Analysis section

  • Review the chart showing which departments or roles are setting objectives against different alignment categories

  • Use the toggles at the top to switch between:

  • Role-based views

  • Department-based views

  • Individual user views by location

For example, you might discover that most people in your commercial team are setting objectives against "People and Experience", helping you understand where focus areas lie across the firm.

Exporting objectives data

You can export objectives data in two ways:

  • PDF snapshot — click Export PDF on the Engagement tab to download the current dashboard view.

  • Full data export — go to Configuration & tools → Export data to open the Export Objectives dialog, where you can:

  • Choose the Objective status to include (Active, Complete, Draft)

  • Select which fields to Include (Basic Information, User Attributes, Comments and Actions, Quality Analysis)

  • Filter by Alignment, created date, or user attributes

  • Click Export to Excel to download the file
