Performance Intelligence (PI) sits in the admin area at Admin > Performance Intelligence. It doesn't change the underlying reviews, objectives, or feedback, and partners or employees never see it — it's an analyst's view, built for the people who need to understand what's happening across the whole cohort.
The workspace answers questions like:
How is the cohort performing this cycle?
Where are the strongest and weakest pockets of the firm?
Who's accelerating, stalling, or at risk?
Which managers are calibrating well — and which aren't?
What themes are coming through in the feedback?
Are our objectives well written?
Where are succession gaps?
Everything is driven by Compass AI analysing your existing data — reviews, objectives, fast feedback. There's nothing to configure on the data side: as long as users are completing reviews and giving feedback, the analysis runs automatically in the background.
Performance Intelligence is a licensed AI feature. If the landing page says Performance Intelligence is not enabled, ask your account manager to switch it on — until then the Open Workspace button is disabled and no analysis runs.
When to use Performance Intelligence
The workspace is most useful at three moments:
Mid-cycle — Track participation, spot stragglers, see how engagement is tracking against expectation.
End of cycle — Read the cohort-level story: who's where on the talent grid, where the development gaps cluster, what themes the AI has found.
Pre-RemCom or board prep — Pull together evidence for compensation, succession, and risk conversations.
What it isn't
A couple of things PI is deliberately not:
Not for partners or employees. It's an admin-only tool. End-users only see their own data, never the aggregate.
Not an editing tool. PI doesn't change reviews, objectives, or feedback — it analyses what's there. Edits happen in the source modules.
Not a real-time dashboard. Most signals are produced by background AI jobs that run after data is submitted. There's a small delay between (say) a review being completed and its analysis appearing here.
How accurate is it?
Every AI-driven page in PI carries a small attribution line: "Analysis by Compass AI · {focus} · AI can make mistakes". Treat the AI signals as a strong starting point — patterns to investigate, hypotheses to test — not as ground truth. They're best used to find what to look at, then you read the underlying reviews and feedback to confirm.
Tips
Start with each module's Introduction page. Every module opens on an Introduction page that explains what Compass produces there and how to read it. Reviews, Compare Reviews, and Employee Trajectory also have an Overview page that gives the executive read; drill into sub-pages when something catches your eye.
Use it as a conversation starter, not a verdict. The AI is good at spotting patterns — committees and managers are still the right people to make calls.
Don't expect every page to be populated on day one. AI analysis runs in the background after reviews and feedback land. Check the queue status banner (covered later) to see what's still processing.
