Frequently asked questions
Can I change a Stripe membership tier from the customer profile? No, Stripe-connected memberships must be changed through Stripe or via customer self-service on their device. This maintains payment synchronization.
How do I extend a membership without Stripe? Click the Edit button next to the expiration date, select a new date, and click Submit.
What happens when a membership expires? The card remains on the customer's phone but shows as expired and grants no access or benefits until renewed.
Can members upgrade themselves? With Stripe-connected cards, yes. Members can upgrade through their device and payment processes automatically.
What's the difference between Membership v1 and regular membership cards? Membership v1 is a simple free membership with no tiers, limits, or payment collection. Regular membership cards have tiers, subscription periods, and optional payment processing.
Can I convert a manual membership to Stripe? This requires creating a new card template with Stripe connected. Existing manual memberships typically cannot be converted mid-subscription.
How do I handle a member who can't pay? For manual cards, extend expiration or downgrade tier. For Stripe cards, manage through Stripe billing settings or work with the customer on payment arrangements.
Will members be notified when I change their tier? Members see updated tier information on their card. Send a push notification to inform them of changes and explain new benefits.
Can I offer free trials with Stripe memberships? Yes, configure trial periods in your membership card settings during creation.
What if a member wants to cancel? For manual memberships, change status or delete card. For Stripe memberships, cancel the subscription in Stripe. The card will show as expired after the current period ends.
