How does Instant Buy work?

Search for a product within search and Perplexity will respond with product cards containing the information you need to make a decision.
Click ‘Instant Buy’ and fill out your details. We’ll save these on file, so you only need to do this once!
Your order and payment is securely sent directly to the merchant for fulfillment, and you’ll receive a confirmation of purchase.

Why are some products eligible for Instant Buy?

We only support Instant Buy with merchants who are compatible with our agentic checkout experience. We are working to expand the library of eligible products offered through Instant Buy, but to start, we support the categories we believe will be the most popular with shoppers.

How do you decide which products to recommend when a user asks a question?

Just as our answer engine ranks sources based on authority and relevance, we rank product listings using similar criteria. We surface product cards tailored to your query, and the more specific you are, the more precisely we can match you with the right products.

We also use your past searches, interactions, and saved preferences to refine these recommendations over time, which helps the experience feel more personalized and intuitive.

Merchants who provide deeper product details such as availability, reviews, pricing, and specifications are more likely to be recommended by our answer engine, ensuring we surface options that are both high quality and highly relevant.

Are product listings sponsored?

No, all product listings are determined by our algorithm based on relevance and ratings. Advertisers cannot pay to list their products in our “related products” section, since one of our core principles is that advertising should have no influence over organic results.

Who can use Instant Buy?

The service is currently available to all users in the United States. Not applicable for users with Enterprise Pro or Enterprise Max plans.

Do I need to enable Pro Search for Instant Buy?

Enabling Pro Search is not required for Instant Buy, but can help provide more detailed and tailored product recommendations.

How do I get started?

Search for products to see product cards within the answer, some examples of queries that would enable Instant would be:

- Best skincare products for sensitive skin as a gift

If you have specific questions that Perplexity is not able to answer or would like to contact their support directly, you can contact the brand or retailer directly through their customer service channels
