The new image generation feature allows you to create custom images that complement your search within seconds.
How does it work?
Add your prompt to the search input and try to be as specific as possible with your instructions. Perplexity will automatically generate the image (you no longer have to click an additional button for generating the image after prompting).

What model is used for image generation?
The default option automatically selects the best model for your query from our available image generation models, which include GPT Image 1, Nano Banana, and Seedream 4.5.
Can I choose what model is used for image generation?
You can set your model preference for image generation from the settings menu. Click the "Settings" icon in the user, select "Preferences", and then choose an "Image generation model" of your choice. The currently available options include:
Default: Selects the best model for your needs.
GPT Image 1: Advanced images from OpenAI.
Nano Banana: Google-powered visual creation (Max and Enterprise Max users get access to Nano Banana Pro)
Seedream 4.5: Latest Bytedance design engine.
Can I edit generated images?
If you're unhappy with the first result you can click on "Regenerate" below the image and we will automatically create a new image. Please note that any regeneration attempt counts towards your image generation limit.
Alternatively, you can add a new prompt in the same Thread (make sure to include something like "generate an image" in your follow-up prompt).
How many images can I generate per day?
Image generation is available as an enhanced query, with access scaling by plan.
Free Plan: Get access to limited image generations.
Pro/Enterprise Pro: Unlock access to limited amount of high-quality images, plus additional medium-quality options.
Max/Enterprise Max: Experience our most generous offering, with extensive access to high-quality image generation capabilities.
Please note that during periods of heavy usage, image quality may slightly vary.
Can I use generated images for commercial purposes?
Images generated through our service by users in Free and individual Pro and Max plans are for personal, non-commercial use only. For more details, please refer to our Terms of Service.
Users on Enterprise Pro and Enterprise Max plans can use images generated with Perplexity for commercial purposes.
