How can I delete files or images from a thread?
When you delete a thread, any files or images attached to it will also be deleted. There are more modular settings for file and image upload control on threads on the web.
Note: this is only available on the web version, the following is not available on the mobile or desktop apps.
You can delete files and images you’ve uploaded in a thread. Just click the file icon in the search bar, then hit the X next to the file you want to remove.
The file will then be deleted as context for the follow up question, and all previously generated responses will retain the context.
If you wish to delete the file from the thread, you will have to delete the previous response that last used the file in question.
Please note only the last output can be deleted and any previous outputs in a thread prior to it can't be deleted.
I want immediate deletion of my files or image from a thread, space or organization how can I accomplish this?
Please submit a response through this form detailing the request and we will get back to you with a confirmation that we've received your request.
How long will files and/or images be retained?
These are retained for 30 days (7 days for Enterprise Pro users). After this period, the file contents will no longer be accessible for follow-ups, but follow-up responses can still maintain the context of previous questions and answers in that thread.
Please note that files uploaded to Spaces, personal repositories, and Organization repositories (in the case of Enteprise Pro organizations) are retained until they are deleted.
Can files and or/images be downloaded after uploading?
Note: this is only available on the web version, the following is not available on the mobile or desktop apps.
You can download a file or image by clicking on the image on the sources view, then clicking right on the image and then clicking on save image as or by clicking on the print button on the top right if it's a PDF.
Can anyone with access to my thread download this information?
If you have made a thread public, anyone with the link will be able to see the image or file you uploaded and remains visible on the thread.
Please make sure to keep the thread private if you'd like no one else to have access to the image or file.
You can make a thread private at any point if you've shared it with someone.
If you'd like to share the thread without including any attachments, you can use our export feature to PDF to share the thread easily with others.
Why can’t Perplexity read my file?
Verify the content does not exceed 40MB and that it is safe for work. We do have content moderation guidelines in place for images.
