  1. Open Grades
    Go to the Manage tab.
Find your course and click Grades to open the gradebook.

  2. Check Progress Indicators
Next to each student, look at the symbol in the Status column:

    = In progress

    = Past due or late

    = Turned in

    = Graded

  3. Set Points Possible
At the very top of the Grades page, locate the row with the assignment name.
Click the three-dot menu on the right side of that row.
Select Set points possible and enter the total points (for example: 30).
Always complete this step before grading any student work.

  4. Set Deadlines
In the same three-dot menu on the assignment header row, select Set deadline.
Choose the due date for the assignment.

  5. Open Student Work
In the Grades list, find the student’s row.
Click View on the right to open their submission in the grading workspace.
    Inside the workspace, you can:

    1. Check assistant interaction to see the conversation the student had with any enabled assistants.

    2. Review Save History to see the progress the student was making while writing.

    3. View submitted drafts to see the versions the student officially turned in.

    4. Leave comments by clicking the Comment button. Students can view these in their assignment preview under Comments.

    5. Run Integrity Analysis by clicking Analysis, then click Analyze Integrity to gain deep insight into the work’s composition before scoring.

    6. Use Grading Analysis by selecting Analysis, then click the Grading tab and click Analyze Grading. This acts like a second set of eyes, giving you an early view of potential grading considerations.

  6. Set Individual Grades
Return to the Grades list. In a student’s row, click the three-dot menu on the right.
Select Set grade and enter the score.

  7. Unsubmit Assignments
From the same three-dot menu in a student row, select Unsubmit assignment if you want the student to revise and resubmit.

  8. Confirm Grades
After you set a grade, the status icon changes to the blue square with pencil.
The score and percentage now display in the Total column.
