The PGA of America offers individuals who do not meet the eligibility requirements for Associate membership the opportunity to become a PGA Affiliate. To become a PGA Affiliate, you must follow these steps:

  1. Complete a Background Check: All individuals registering or re-registering as an Affiliate must complete a Background Check performed by Employment Screening Associates. If you have been convicted of a felony, misdemeanor or equivalent, you should submit documentation to the PGA Membership Department to determine your eligibility for PGA Membership prior to proceeding.

  2. Pass the Qualifying Test: Applicants need to purchase and review the five qualifying level courses: Introduction to the PGM and the Golf Profession, PGA History, PGA Constitution, Rules of Golf and Career Enhancement to be eligible to register for the qualifying test taken virtually online at your convenience.

  3. Meet the Eligibility Requirements: To be eligible to register as an Affiliate, you must have a high school diploma or be at least 18 years of age and have the equivalent of a high school education. Acceptance as a regular full-time student at an accredited college in the U.S. shall be considered ample proof of high school equivalency. You must also successfully complete the Background Check and the Qualifying Level.

  4. Pay the Fees: To register as an Affiliate, you must pay the following fees:

  • $200 Registration Fee (at the time of registration or reregistration)

  • $50 National Fee (at registration and annually)

  • $50 Section Fee (at registration and annually)

  • $560 Level 1 Course Access Fees (at registration)

  1. Renewal: Affiliates in Level 1 of the PGA Professional Golf Management Program shall be eligible to renew their registration annually, provided they are within the Acceptable Progress guidelines as established by the Board of Directors.

  2. Limit of Registration: Affiliates will be subject to the following Acceptable Progress guidelines, as established by the Board of Directors:

  • Two years to complete Level 1 from the Level 1 start date.

  • Once Level 1 is completed, a maximum of two years to remain an Affiliate prior to meeting all eligibility to register as an Associate.

  1. Register as an Associate: PGA Affiliates must then meet all Associate eligibility to register as an Associate in Level 2 of the PGA PGM Program to progress toward PGA of America Membership.

In conclusion, becoming a PGA Affiliate is a great way to start your journey toward PGA of America Membership. By following the steps outlined above and committing to the process, you can achieve your goal and become a part of the PGA of America community.
