Getting your sensor in the right spot is one of the most important steps for accurate impact detection. The good news? It only takes a few minutes and you won't need any tools.
π Where to Mount Your Sensor
For the best results, mount your Phreno sensor inside your helmet, as close to your head as possible. A snug, direct fit means more accurate readings. If your helmet doesn't allow for internal placement, you can also attach it to the outside β see the image below for reference.
The key is firm, smooth contact between the 3M tape and the helmet surface β no gaps, no wobble.
πͺ Step-by-Step: Attaching Your Sensor
Clean the surface β use isopropyl alcohol to wipe down the area where the sensor will sit. Make sure it's fully dry before moving on
Pick your spot β find a smooth area on the helmet interior that sits closest to your head
Peel and press β remove the protective film from the pre-installed 3M tape and firmly press the sensor onto your chosen spot
Hold it β press and hold for at least 30 seconds to make sure the bond is strong
That's it β your sensor is mounted and ready to go!
π Keeping It Secure
A few things to keep in mind over time:
Give your sensor a quick check before each session to make sure it hasn't shifted
Avoid placing it anywhere that causes discomfort during use
If the adhesive starts to weaken or you need to reposition, replace it with 3M VHB Tape 4991 (0.5 in width) β the same tape that comes pre-installed
