Pillow’s Smart Snooze feature is designed to help you wake up gently while avoiding oversleeping. Instead of always giving you the same snooze time, Pillow gradually shortens snooze intervals, making it easier to get out of bed.
How Smart Snooze Works
First snooze: 10 minutes
Second snooze: 8 minutes
Third snooze: 6 minutes
Fourth snooze: 4 minutes
Fifth snooze: 2 minutes
Sixth and onwards: 2 minutes (minimum snooze time)
So the more you snooze, the shorter the interval becomes—helping you avoid falling back into a deep sleep cycle.
iPhone vs. Apple Watch
Smart Snooze works a little differently depending on your device:
Apple Watch:
Uses the fixed pattern shown above (10 → 8 → 6 → 4 → 2 minutes). This is a simple, consistent formula.
iPhone:
Uses a more dynamic snooze calculation. It can adapt snooze times based on factors such as:
Your current sleep stage
Movement or biometric data
Sleep cycle patterns
This means that on iPhone, snooze intervals are personalized to your sleep rather than following a fixed countdown.
Why the Difference?
The Apple Watch relies on a straightforward formula because it prioritizes reliability and low power usage. The iPhone, on the other hand, has more processing power and access to detailed sleep analysis, which allows Pillow to personalize snooze timing to your unique patterns.
Both approaches aim to achieve the same goal: shorter snoozes over time to make waking up smoother and more effective.
👉 Tip: If you notice your snooze times vary slightly between devices, this is expected and part of how Smart Snooze is designed to work.
