How Does Heart Rate Work in Pillow?

Updated over a week ago

Heart rate data are drawn directly from Apple Health and are not recorded by Pillow itself. Therefore, if data for a particular night exist in Apple Health (via an Apple Watch, another wearable device or a third party app), that data should be displayed in Pillow by tapping on your daily sleep diagram and then on the "Heart" tab at the top of the screen.

Checking Heart Rate Data in the Apple Health App

Follow these steps to confirm if heart rate data is recorded:

  1. Open the Apple Health app on your iPhone.

  2. Tap on the 'Browse' tab.

  3. Select 'Heart.'

  4. Select 'Heart Rate.'

  5. Scroll to the bottom of the screen.

  6. Tap on 'Show All Data.'

  7. Review the heart rate values logged on a specific day, especially during hours you were asleep.

Troubleshooting If Data Is Missing

If no heart rate data is recorded, even though you were wearing your Apple Watch:

  1. Ensure that your Apple Watch is snugly and correctly fitted on your wrist.

  2. Verify that heart rate monitoring permissions are enabled in both the Apple Watch settings and the Apple Health app.

  3. Restart your Apple Watch and iPhone to rule out temporary glitches.

  4. If the issue persists, contact Apple Support for assistance. Missing heart rate data could indicate a device issue.
