How to Ground a Pilot

Updated over a month ago

Prerequisites

  • Ensure permissions (ground a pilot and view pilot groundings) are setup across your organization

  • Create any custom pilot groundings needed

Description

The Ground a Pilot feature allows authorized staff to apply restrictions on a pilots profile (Prevent Flight Scheduling, Prevent Flight Dispatch, Prevent Ground Scheduling, Cancel or Modify Future Reservations). This may be used for reasons such as behavioral concerns, personal leave, compliance issues, or other operational needs.

When a pilot is grounded, a grounded label appears on their profile and throughout the system next to their name, indicating their status to users with permission to view grounding information.

Depending on the grounding reason configuration, existing reservations may be canceled or modified automatically.

Step by Step

  1. Navigate to the user profile of the pilot you want to ground.

  2. Select the Pilot Grounds option on the profile.

  3. Choose the appropriate grounding reason and optionally enter:

    1. An expected resolution date

    2. Notes explaining the reason for the grounding

    3. Attachments to support the grounding decision

    4. Click Apply Grounding. The pilot will now appear as Grounded, and the status will display throughout the platform.

Permission Needed

  • Permission to place a grounding on a user profile

  • Permission to view pilot groundings.
