Description
Before using the Ground a Pilot feature, administrators must configure permissions and create grounding reasons.
Permissions determine who can view pilot groundings and who can place a grounding on a user’s profile. Grounding reasons define why a pilot is being grounded and what actions should occur when the grounding is applied, such as blocking dispatch.
This setup ensures that only authorized staff can ground pilots and that the needed actions appropriately apply when a grounding is applied.
Step by Step
Navigate to Settings → General → Users → Roles and Permissions.
Locate the two Ground Pilot permissions:
Adjust permissions for the appropriate roles (for example, allowing instructors to view groundings while limiting grounding actions to staff).
Navigate to Settings → General → Users → Pilot Ground Reasons.
Click Add Reason and complete the following:
Enter a label for the grounding reason.
Select a reason type (category).
Ensure the reason is active.
Choose the actions that should occur when the grounding is applied.
Prevent Flight Scheduling will prevent any future reservations with an aircraft assigned.
Prevent Flight Dispatch will prevent the checkout of any reservation with an aircraft.
Prevent Ground Scheduling will prevent any future reservations without an aircraft assigned.
Cancel or Modify Future Reservations will cancel any reservations where the pilot who is grounded is the only customer on the reservation and modify any reservations where there are two customers on the reservation (crewed flights or training flights with two students). If the grounded pilot is customer 1, they will be removed from the reservation and customer 2 will be moved to the customer 1 spot.
Save the grounding reason.
Repeat, creating as many grounding reasons as you would like.
