Set your FDM viewing and notification preferences
My Preferences is where you set how Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) looks and behaves for your own account. It controls the view a flight opens in, how the aircraft appears on the map, whether the split view opens automatically, and which flag alerts you receive by email and SMS.
Everything on this page applies to your account only. It does not change what your teammates see, and it does not change operator-wide configuration. Operator-wide settings — such as AirSync, Garmin Connections, Aircraft Registrations, Reporting, and AI Features — live on the separate Settings page and are managed by an admin. See "Configure FDM settings" for those.
Open My Preferences
In the FDM left sidebar, select My Preferences. The page is titled My Preferences. Use the back arrow at the top (or Flights in the sidebar) to return to the Flight List when you are done.
Choose your default map view
Default map view sets the view a flight opens in. This only sets the initial view — you can still switch views once a flight is open.
Under Default map view, select one: - 2D map — open every flight in the top-down 2D map view. - 3D map — open every flight in the 3D view. When you choose 3D, a Default 3D camera dropdown appears in this same card — pick Orbit (free 3D), Chase (follow the aircraft), or HUD (cockpit view). Orbit is the default.
Select Save changes.
The Last updated timestamp under the options shows when you last saved. The Save changes button stays disabled until you make a change.
Choose your aircraft marker
Aircraft marker sets how the aircraft is drawn on the map:
3D aircraft model — show the detailed aircraft model on the map.
Simple aircraft — show a plain solid-black aircraft instead. It is easier to spot and looks the same for every airframe.
Select the one you prefer, then select Save changes.
Set your split-map defaults
The split map is a side-by-side view that lets you compare the main map with a second pane. In My Preferences you choose whether it opens automatically and which pane it defaults to.
To have every flight open with the split view already showing, turn on Open split view automatically. Leave it off to open flights in a single pane.
Under Default right pane, choose which view the second pane starts in: - 2D - 3D - Chase - HUD - Six Pack
Select Save changes.
As with the map-view settings, these defaults only set the starting layout — you can change panes and views while reviewing an individual flight.
Set your notification preferences
Notifications are set per priority. For each of P1 Alerts, P2 Alerts, and P3 Alerts you can independently turn on:
Email — receive that priority's alerts by email.
SMS — receive that priority's alerts by text message.
Each priority shows an "N active" badge — the number of delivery channels (Email, SMS) currently turned on for it, from 0 to 2.
Notification settings save automatically the moment you flip a toggle. There is no Save changes button in this section — that button belongs only to the map-view cards above.
Mobile Number (for SMS) is shown here as read-only and comes from your Flight Schedule Pro (FSP) profile. You cannot enter or edit the number on this page. To change it, update your FSP profile; the new number then appears here and can be used for SMS alerts.
My Preferences vs. Settings
FDM keeps a clear split between personal and operator-wide configuration:
My Preferences (this page) — per-user, per-account. Your map-view default, aircraft marker, split-map defaults, and your email/SMS alert choices. Every FDM user sets their own.
Settings — operator-wide. AirSync, Garmin Connections, Aircraft Registrations, Reporting, and AI Features. Changing these affects the whole operator and requires the Manage FDM Settings permission.
If a setting is not on My Preferences, it is an operator-wide setting — look for it on the Settings page.
Troubleshooting
The Save changes button is greyed out. Nothing has changed yet. The button stays disabled until you edit an option. Make a selection and it becomes active.
I'm not receiving SMS alerts. Confirm that SMS is turned on for the priority you expect (P1, P2, or P3). SMS toggles save automatically, so there is nothing to save afterward. Next, check Mobile Number (for SMS): it is read-only and comes from your FSP profile. If it is blank or wrong, update your FSP profile — you cannot edit the number on this page.
My teammate sees a different default view. That is expected. My Preferences applies to your account only. Each person sets their own map-view, aircraft-marker, split-map, and notification preferences.
