The Importance of Compliance in PilotoMail

We must have authorization to receive mail on a member's behalf.

Updated over a year ago

Compliance is an important part of the PilotoMail onboarding process. To comply with U.S. Postal Service (USPS) regulations, we must verify our member's identity, including mail managers and authorized recipients.

What does it mean? A mailbox renter must authorize a CMRA, or Commercial Mail Receiving Agency, to receive mail on their behalf by going through an identity verification process that ensures the CMRA has validated each renter's identity.

What is a CMRA?

As stated by USPS, a "Commercial Mail Receiving Agency (CMRA) is a private business that accepts mail from the Postal Service for recipients, keeps it for collection (usually a private mailbox, "PMB"), or re-mails it to another location with newly paid postage."

Why is compliance important?

The USPS regulates how mail can be received and handled. It also dictates the required procedures CMRAs must follow.
