Automations: frequency limits

Written by João Gomes

Pipedrive's frequency limits are limitations on the number of times any automation may run within a pre-determined timeframe. They are designed to support an automation's optimal performance and ideal speed. These limits serve as a safeguard mechanism to protect Pipedrive's infrastructure and prevent companies from creating loops.

When are frequency limits applied?

Frequency limits may be applied under any of the following conditions:

  • If the automation is triggered by a bulk action

  • If the automation creates a loop

  • If the automation triggers several other automations (e.g., If you have one automation that creates a deal when a person is created and another that creates a person when a deal is created.)

Note: These limits are time-based, meaning they are automatically lifted after a pre-defined amount of time between activations has elapsed. To make sure the limits run as scheduled, make sure everything else is configured properly and meets any of the above conditions.

How to know when you reached a frequency limit

When activating an automation and if a frequency limit has been reached, you will need to navigate to the history tab within your automations. You can then stop executions. If you click on an individual execution, you can specify whether it was due to frequency limits:
