You can add formulas to create or modify data in your data table. Note: Column formulas do NOT preserve significant figures. Read more on that here.

Step 0: (Optional) Make an empty column for your calculation.

  1. Click the three vertical buttons on the right of the column heading.

  2. Select Insert Column Right.

  3. Give the new column a name, variable, and units.

Step 1: Change the Column Formula

  1. Click the three vertical buttons on the right of the column heading again.

  2. Select Change Column Formula.

  3. Use the calculator tool to create a formula.

Features of the Calculator:

  • Select your data columns from the box on the right.

  • Click the buttons on the calculator to create your formula.

  • The rate of change function acts as a derivative function.

  • Use the C (clear) button to make changes.

  • Click Submit to complete the formula.

Note: Formulas can be based on any column that is to the left of it in the data table. Columns cannot use data that is to the right of the calculated column.
