Grading and Feedback

When you open a student's responses, you can see exactly what they entered for all questions. This view shows their last save; if they are actively working, refresh the page to see their work's latest version.

You can comment on their work, enter scores, or both.

  1. Navigate back to the Scores view for the assignment, or back to the assignment list for the class.

  2. Select Point Value to use the point total from autograded questions in addition to manually graded questions. Select Custom to set a customized, overall grade for the assignment.

  3. Navigate to the previous or next student.

  4. Options to view the answer key to the assignment, to show/hide instructor notes, to change the grading status (see below), save your grading progress, unlock all student sections, or to completely reset the student's response. Note: completely resetting a student's response deletes everything, including their progress and any grading or comments you've done. This cannot be undone!

  5. Score for a question. If autograded, you can overwrite it here.

  6. Comments displayed to the student.

Clicking on the Grading Status box will give you several options.

  1. Pending Grade - sets the Status of the assignment to Submitted. The student will be able to see their work and your comments but cannot make any changes.

  2. Final Grade - sets the Status of the assignment to Final Grade. The student will be able to see their work and your comments but cannot make any changes. If you've integrated Pivot Interactives with an LMS such as Canvas or Blackboard, this will also initiate the sending of scores to that platform.

  3. Request Revision - sets the Status of the assignment to Request Revision. The student will be able to see their work and your comments and make changes to their work.

When you are finished providing feedback, you'll need to save your work.
