Do Not Provide Music for Customer Orders
Customers are required to provide their own music when placing a video order.
If a customer fails to provide a music track, you must:
✅ Dispute or decline the order immediately.
❌ Do not proceed with sourcing or selecting music yourself.
Why Editors Shouldn't Choose the Music
At first glance, it might seem helpful or efficient to pick a music track on the customer’s behalf. But this introduces several serious issues, including:
1. Legal Risk
Music licensing is a complex legal issue. Without a valid license:
You can be held liable for copyright infringement.
Licensing laws differ by country and are subject to interpretation.
You could unknowingly select a track that violates terms of use, leading to legal exposure and significant financial loss.
2. Customer Dissatisfaction
Music is highly subjective. If the customer or their client dislikes your choice, they may request a full revision — forcing you to redo the entire video, even if the rest of your work was perfect.
3. Cultural and Linguistic Misalignment
What one person sees as elegant, fun, or trendy may not match someone else’s expectations, especially across language or cultural differences. Let the customer own that creative direction.
What You Should Do Instead
If the order does not include a music file, open a dispute or decline the job.
Send a polite message to the customer explaining that the music track is missing and the customer should provide the music to avoid any licensing issues.
If the customer is able to send you a music file to use for that project, withdraw the dispute and continue working on the project.
If You Provide Music Anyway
If you choose to ignore this policy and source music for a video:
You assume full responsibility for the legal validity of the license.
You accept personal liability if the customer or a third party files a copyright claim.
You risk enforcement actions by Pixlmob, which may include:
Monetary penalties
Account suspension
Permanent ban from the platform
We want to protect you from unnecessary risk. That’s why this policy exists.
