Create an Object

Add essential information, images, audio, attributions, as well as tags to items in your collection

Written by Gabrielle Fanning

Overview

Objects represent the items on display in your collection. You can add and manage these directly through the Console, and if you have a large collection, our Customer Success team can assist with bulk import options.

To help visitors explore your collection, you can use Tags to assign Objects to specific Themes within the PWA.

if Object doesn't fit your organization’s terminology, you can change this label to an alternative within your Console settings. Read more on setting your preferred terminology here. Get in touch with our CS team about other options.

Create a New Object

  1. Navigate to Objects.

  2. Select the Create Object button on the top right of the page.

  3. Enter the relevant properties for your Object, including Object Name, Subtitle, and Hero Image/Audio media within the Basics section. You can configure this form with your preferred properties in your Console Settings.

  4. Add the Wall ID. This is a visitor-facing field that allows guests to search for the item in the PWA or reference a physical label number in your Venue.

  5. Optional: The External ID field is for any ID's associated with the Object in your other systems of record (like a Collection Management System). This field is only visible in the Console and will not be seen by visitors.

  6. Add an Object Summary within the Featured section to show on the PWA Home screen when this Object is featured.

Add Content

  1. Navigate to the Content section below the Featured section.

  2. Click on the plus (+) sign to reveal the content options.

  3. You can add Text, an Image, a Button, a Video, or all four.

  4. Once you are happy with your content, select Done on the top right.

Add Attributes and Tags

  1. To add an author or artist, select Add Attribution and choose from the existing list.

  2. To categorize the item, click in the Search tags to add field.

  3. To use an existing Tag, type the name and press Enter.

  4. To create a new Tag, type the name and select Create Tag.
