The basics
In Planbase, leave and unavailability allow employees to indicate when they cannot work during their usual hours. For example, an employee might request unavailability for a Friday morning to attend a doctor's appointment, or take leave for a personal day or sick leave.
Leave Management page
Viewing leave requests
Navigation: Navigate to the left-hand sidebar and click on 'Leave'. This section of Planbase displays all incoming leave requests.
View requests: You can view approved, denied, and pending leave requests.
Filtering and viewing requests
Filter by date: By default, the filter is set from today to the next year. Adjust this range to narrow down or expand your view of leave requests.
Request details: Below in the table, you'll find details such as who made the request, the type of leave (e.g., PTO, sick leave), duration, start and finish times, and any other relevant information about the request.
Managing leave types
Setup: To configure the types of leave, navigate to 'Unavailability Types' at the top right of the page.
Customization: Here, you can view existing leave types such as PTO, bereavement, and others. To add a new category, click 'Add Unavailability Types'. Input the name (e.g., unplanned leave), decide if approval is required, and set any specific allowances.
Employee-specific leave rules
Employee leave settings: To set specific leave rules for an individual employee, go to 'Management', then 'People', and select the employee.
Adjusting settings: In the 'Leave Management' section, enable leave submission and set specific allowances if necessary.
Submitting leave requests
As an Administrator: Administrators can add leave requests on behalf of employees. In the leave page, click 'Add Unavailability', select the employee, the type of leave, and the timings.
Via Slack: Employees typically submit their leave requests through Slack. In the Planbase Slack app, they can type "help" for instructions.
Reviewing leave: Employees can type "leave" to review all their leave requests.
Adding leave: By typing "add leave", employees can submit a new request by providing the start and end dates, times, and selecting the type of leave.
