Employees can submit time off requests through the Planbase Slack app or through the Planbase web application.

Using the Planbase Slack App

  • Getting Started: Type help in the Planbase app to view all available commands related to leave management.

  • Adding Leave Requests: To submit a new leave request type add leave. You will be prompted to provide the following details:

    • Requested dates

    • Start and end times for each day that you will not be working

    • The specific time off policy requested (e.g., PTO, bereavement, sick leave)

ℹ️ ℹ️ Depending on how your employer manages time off you may be prompted to specify which time off policy you would like to use on each day

Managing Leave Details

  • Checking Policy Balances: Employees can check their current leave balances by typing leave balance in the Planbase app.

  • Viewing existing requests: use the leave command to see a list of all approved and pending requests

  • Cancelling Time Off Requests: If plans change, employees can cancel their time off requests by accessing the relevant option in the Planbase app.

💡 The types of leave available (such as PTO, bereavement, or sick leave) are configured by the account administrator and may vary based on company policy.

Using the Planbase Web Application

Employees can also submit time off requests through the Planbase web application. The fastest way to get there is through Slack. Use the planbase command to automatically open a new browser tab with your calendar in your configured current timezone.

To make a request you can either select REQUEST TIME OFF from the quick action toolbar at the bottom of the page, or click the time off icon at the top right of your calendar to bring up details of your existing time off requests and any remaining balances. Click the large plus icon at the bottom of the page.

Select the dates which you'd like to request, and select the policy which you will be using for each day of the request. Click the Next Step button to see whether your request can be auto-approved or requires approval from your employer.

When you are ready to submit your request hit the Submit Time Off button at the bottom of the page.
